State Of Origin 2017 Betting Odds: Game 3 Preview

July 11th, 2017

The 2017 State Of Origin series comes to a close on Wednesday night, July 12, with Queensland host to the do-or-die Game 3 decider at Suncorp Stadium.

Game 1 at the venue saw the Blues post their biggest ever Lang Park win running all over the Maroons (28 – 4), before Queensland fought back in the second half of Game 2 in Sydney to set up for a grand finale thriller in the third.

2017 State Of Origin Game 3 Tip: Back Jarryd Hayne to score First Try @ $12

No doubting the Canetoads dug deep to come from a 16 – 6 half-time deficit the last time the two met, but were Queensland that good or were the Blues just that bad in the final 40?

A Dane Gagai double followed by a Thurston special from the sidelines in the final minutes sealed the Game 2 State Of Origin result.

It’ll be tougher for Queensland without the injured JT (shoulder), who has played his final ever Origin game, and their State Of Origin odds have eased out to $2.15 accordingly at Ladbrokes.com.au.

The Blues start the $1.75 favourites in the State Of Origin betting markets to win just their second series in 12 years.

They’ve named the same team for all three games for the first time in 21 years and that is saying something. New South Wales need to learn the lesson from three weeks ago and if they have, they could be hard to stop despite the State Of Origin history and facts working against them in the decider.

2017 State Of Origin Betting: First Tryscorer (Game 3)

  • Valentine Holmes (QLD) – $10
  • Brett Morris (NSW) – $10
  • Dane Gagai (QLD) – $11
  • Blake Ferguson (NSW) – $11

Debutant Valentine Holmes was first over in Game 2 for Queensland and is one of the early State Of Origin tips to do so again in the third and final 2017 showdown. Gagai scored the double last match and is also being kept safe in the State Of Origin first tryscorer markets for Wednesday night.

There’s value to be had out of the Blues’ best to be first over, including Jarryd Hayne who had a quiet Game 2 and will be out to return to his better form, while James Tedesco at the same $12 odds could also be a danger.

2017 State Of Origin Betting: Man Of The Match (Game 3)

  • Cameron Smith (QLD) – $7
  • James Tedesco (NSW) – $7
  • Cooper Cronk (QLD) – $11
  • James Maloney (NSW) – $11
  • Mitchell Pearce (NSW) – $11
  • Andrew Fifita (NSW) – $11

It’s Origin’s top honour, aside from taking out the coveted shield of course, so who will be crowned Man Of The Match in Game 3? Cameron Smith is short-priced favourite for Queensland without Thurston in the mix, but his storm teammate Cooper Cronk is a veteran of the game with the right stats to make a bigger impact at value odds.

Equally, James Maloney has been a real star for the Blues this series and at $11 could be the best on the field in Brisbane on Wednesday night.
