State Of Origin Betting 2017 Preview: Game 2

June 21st, 2017

The 2017 State Of Origin series continues tonight, Wednesday June 21, with the action moving down to Sydney at ANZ Stadium for Game 2.

Three weeks ago the New South Wales Blues made the trip to Queensland and kicked things off with an upset win over the Maroons in dominant 28 – 4 fashion, their biggest ever win in Brisbane.

2017 State Of Origin Game 2 Tip: Back Coen Hess for First Try @ $26 – Ladbrokes.com.au

Now getting home ground advantage, the Blues are leading the latest Game 2 State Of Origin odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $1.72 to make it two-from-two and secure the series for the first time since 2014.

Taking nothing away from New South Wales, who look on the verge of a new era of State Of Origin dominance, the Game 1 score line didn’t reflect the gutsy effort of the Queenslanders.

Coach Kevin Walters took the five-tries-to-one blow very seriously and made some major changes to the Maroons State Of Origin Game 2 team.

The underdogs tonight at $2.30 in the latest State Of Origin 2017 odds, Queensland travel down south of the border with a confidence boost thanks to the return of the inspirational Johnathan Thurston as well as Billy Slater, who was overlooked for the opener.

Thurston’s replacement, Anthony Milford, is out with injury while some big names including Sam Thaiday and even Corey Oates who was only man to post points for the team in Game 1 have been dropped.

So will the changed line-up change the results? Or has the Queensland State of Origin Dynasty finally come to an end?

2017 State Of Origin Betting: First Tryscorer (Game 2)

  • Blake Ferguson (NSW) – $11
  • Brett Morris (NSW) – $12
  • James Tedesco (NSW) – $12
  • Valentine Holmes (QLD) – $12
  • Dane Gagai (QLD) – $13

State Of Origin First Tryscorer odds for tonight favour Blues to post first points, the way James Maloney did at big odds in the first clash, with Blake Ferguson holding $11 favouritism.

James Tedesco ($12) and Brett Morris are at $12 for the Blues, but if Queensland are going to get off on the right foot they need to gain confidence and be first over and for them debutant Valentine Holmes ($12) is the value.

Kangaroos winger Holmes is in flying form this NRL season, as has fellow Queensland first timer Coen Hess from the Cowboys who at $26 could be the blowout in the markets having scored 10 tries in 13 games this year to date.

2017 State Of Origin Betting: Man Of The Match (Game 2)

  • James Tedesco (NSW) – $7
  • Johnathan Thurston (QLD) – $7
  • Boyd Cordner (NSW) – $8
  • Cameron Smith (QLD) – $8
  • Mitchell Pearce (NSW) – $9
  • Andrew Fifita (NSW) – $9

Fifita was the best man of the field in Game 1 and was rewarded with Man Of The Match honours.

If the Blues bring more of what they did in the opener and wrap up the series, there’s every chance Fifita can do it again paying $9. Word is that Mitchell Pearce, who was outstanding until his concussion, is getting even better and he’s also at $9 in Man Of The Match betting.

Fancy Queensland? Lock in Thurston ($7), the magician playmaker looking back to his best returning from injury in Round 14 of the NRL for a tireless effort against the Eels.
